Safe and Drug Free Schools Minimize

The Abington Public Schools’ Safe and Drug Free School goals are consistent with those reflected in our No Child Left Behind Consolidated Plan to reduce violence, and drug and alcohol use. Students in grades K-12 receive instruction on substance use/abuse and violence prevention from a district approved curriculum. Our middle school students are currently using the program, “Life Skills Training” in their Health Education classes. This program is an internationally known research based tobacco, alcohol and drug abuse prevention program for middle school students. To ensure a safe educational environment, the district clearly conveys the message that there is “zero tolerance” for alcohol, drugs, weapons, hate crimes, and violence within and on the grounds of the Abington Public Schools. The schools are aggressive with consequences as well as education, intervention and support.
