On Wednesday, September 29, 2010, scientists released news of the discovery of a planet orbiting a star in the Libra constellation. The star this planet orbits around, Gliese 581, is 20.5 light years away from us. According to the discovery team, there is "100% likelihood" that life exists on this planet.
The class will be studying chapters 2 through 4 in the textbook in conjuction with research projects to help us learn about the universe we live in.
Presentations will be made beginning Friday, October 15 pertaining to textbook content and research specific to the discovery of the first potentially habitable planet outside of our Earth.
