The Greenwave Gazette

"For the students, by the students"

The Greenwave Gazette (GWG) is the high school's monthly newspaper. Members meet with the adviser during scheduled meetings to plan, edit and publish each edition. Membership is open to any student who enjoys writing, can craft at least one article per issue, and attend meetings. Topics covered by the newspaper staff are opinion, feature articles, school news, reviews, entertainment and sports.  Please see the student handbook regarding dues.

The amount of work students put into this club is substantial: they spend many days brainstorming, covering events and then writing stories.  In addition to writing stories, reporters are expected to take or obtain photographs for their article(s).

Staff members meet for a round table editing session for each issue to review all submissions.  During this meeting, members review all articles, accept or reject submissions, and make edits to each other's articles (as needed).

Once everything is in order, MSPublisher is used to design and layout the printed version of the newspaper.  After that, the Greenwave Gazette is printed by the Colbent Corporation in Braintree, a local company that has generously donated their full color printing services. In addition, members create an online version of the newspaper.

As of the spring of 2012, nearly 110,000 hits have been recorded to our site.

Questions about the newspaper should be sent to the adviser Mr. Dorman at jimdorman@abingtonps.org
