The Frolio  Middle School and Abington High School ask that you use the MLA (Modern Language Association) format for citing works used in your research.  Your teacher may provide you with a copy of examples you may use to build your citations.  Below are some citation examples from different types of sources, all found in the Frolio Library, using the MLA format.



A book by one author
    Tessitore, John. Extraordinary American Writers. New York : Children's
              Press, 2004.

A book by two authors
    Carpenter, Angelica Shirley and Jean Shirley. Frances Hodgson Burnett:
               Beyond the Secret Garden. Minneapolis: Lerner, 1990.

A book with an editor, and an edition other than the first
      Morris, Richard B. and Jeffrey B. Morris, eds. Encyclopedia of American
               History. 7th ed. New York : HarperCollins, 1996.

A work (essay, story, etc.) in an anthology
     Jacobs, W. W. "The Monkey's Paw." Great Ghost Stories. sel. and illus. by
                Barry Moser. New York: Morrow, 1998.

An unsigned article in a reference book
          "Apple." World Book Encyclopedia. 2000.

A signed article in a reference book
       Author's Last Name, Author's First Name. "Title of Article."
                   Encyclopedia Title. Year.
                (note:  author's name is found on last page of topic article in small letters.)

          Example:
          McNally, Karen C. "Earthquake." World Book Encyclopedia. 2002.

Internet Resources:  WWW sites
       Author or originator. Title of item. [Online] Date of document or
                   access (day, month, year). URL<http://address/filename>.

          Example:
          National Park Service, U. S. Dpet. of Interior. "Acadia National
                   Park, Maine." [Online] 13 June, 2006. <http://www.nps.gov/
                   acad/index.htm>.

Online Images
       Author or originator. Description or title of image. [Online image] Date
                   of access (day, month, year). URL <http://address/filename>.

          Example:
