Welcome to the Frolio Library Home Page

Our Library currently has more than 6500 books for your reading and educational journey. Our library is open until 2:30 after school Monday - Thursday, unless a prior announcement is made. Books may be checked out for two weeks, and may be renewed if not on hold. Students must pay for any lost or damaged books. Students may be kept from participating in school functions (dances, field trips) if overdue materials are not resolved.

Subject Directories Minimize

Catalogs of websites collected, organized, and maintained by humans; they are arranged in hierarchies which organize information into larger then smaller subcategories by topic. Subject directories are a great place to start when you don't know much about a topic!

Search Engines Minimize
Large, broad databases of indexed information searched by keywords; created by automated programs (robots or spiders).  Search engines are huge!  They are a good place to search when you already know something about your topic or have specific keywords to search.  Remember spelling must be exact!

Reading Counts Program Requirements Minimize

Your English language arts teacher will require you to read two Reading Counts titles during each trimester as an outside reading requirement, and then take the computer quiz on that book.  The Frolio Middle School library has thousands of quiz titles for you to choose from!  All Reading Counts titles are marked with a green star sticker on the book's spine.  Both your English teacher,  the Frolio library, and the Abington Public Library have binders with a complete listing of titles included in our program.  There are both fiction and non-fiction titles available to choose from.
After you have selected and read your book, visit the library as soon as possible to take your quiz at one of the six quiz stations.  You may come during English class, before school, or after school.  Most quizzes consist of ten reading comprehension, multiple choice questions.  Do not take the quiz until you have read and  completed the book or you will probably not earn a passing score!  If you do not earn a passing score of 70, you may attempt to pass the quiz two additional times with new questions asked each time.  Note that you must wait 24 hours to retake a quiz.
If you need help finding books of interest to you, please ask me for help or visit the Booklist section at the library home page for suggestions and links to young adult book review sites.  Happy Reading!
