Boys' Soccer Review

This season has been a monumental one for the boy’s varsity soccer team. Their record may not show it, but boy’s program has been turned around. The record ending the season was 4 wins, 11 losses, and 3 ties. This year’s team was led by captains Matt Imrie, Matt Lebbossiere, and Tyler Adams. The season ended with an 8 to 2 win over Hull. Goals were scored by John Tomlin (2 goals), Jared Sumner (2 goals), Tyler Adams, Greg McDonnell, Matt Imrie, Eddie Neary. This year’s goalie was sophomore Brett Williams, gaining valuable experience for the rest of his varsity career. The leading goal scorers this year were Tyler Adams and Greg McDonnell both scoring 6 goals, followed by John Tomlin with 4 goals. This year the team graduates 12 seniors leaving 6 underclassmen left for next year and a lot of spots to fill. The Green Wave finished 6th in the league in front of Hull, Harwich, and Rockland. Look forward to more success coming from next year’s team as they hope to build on this season.

Abington Girls Soccer Season Review

The Abington High School girls soccer team finished out their season on November 1, 2010 with a 3-2 loss at Hull high school. They finished with a record of 4-11-3. Even though this record does not compare to the girls teams of the past, it was an improvement from last year’s girl’s team which had 2 wins. The 2010 season was a rebuilding year for the girls. They have a lot of young players which saw significant playing time this year. One highlight of the girl’s season was when they beat Hull 3-2 at home. This was one of the girl’s two night games during the season. The girls trailed 2-0 at halftime, but rallied back to score three goals in the second half. This was one of the most exciting games seen in recent memory. With guidance from this year’s seniors, the girl’s team has a bright future ahead of them.
