Homework 3/2/11: Read the above word document titled Hayne-Webster Debate in the class assignments section. Using their words as inspiration, put them into your own words to demonstrate your understanding of the messages. (30 points) Also, at the bottom of your page make a list of the words you didn't understand and define them (minimum 5) (10 points).
Unit 7: The Second Great Awakening
Homework 3/21/11: Read the introduction and 1 (period 3) or 2 (period 4) of the utopian group's sections. You should also read the conclusion. Write one paragraph explaining why the utopian movements mostly failed while the Mormons were successful. Consider that both wanted to perfect society. (30 points)
Homework 3/31/11: This link is for a site on the history of the Abolitionist movement in America. Timing yourself, I'd like you to spend at least 10 minutes navigating this site and reading sections that seem interesting to you. For class tomorrow, you should have 3 interesting things you learned, 2 historical conclusions you can make about the Abolition movement, and 1 question you think your peers would benefit from knowing the answer to. The only sections you should avoid are the two on the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment.
